Work-It Wednesday: UWYH #12

Hey everyone!

Happy Wednesday!! And welcome to another Work-It Wednesday :D Today I am playing along with the Sweet Stamp Shop Use What You Have Challenge #12:

For this challenge I decided to use my stash of flair buttons. I've been collecting them but I've only used them once or twice. It's been over a year since I've used one, and I JUST bought a new pack a couple weeks ago, so I thought it was time. Check out my stash:

And here is what I came up with:

I used my Sweet Stamp Shop Sweet Tooth set to stamp the candies which I cut out and used my flair buttons as centers. I cut out the pieces to create the gum ball machine by hand and with basic shape dies. It's a little hard to tell in the picture but the circle of the gum ball machine has a clear acetate sheet and the top layer is popped up and the candies are inside.

I thought it turned out pretty cute, don't you think?
And I used the buttons in a different way than just slapping one on the card, so I was pleased with the end result :)

Alright sweet friends, that's all for today!
I'll see you back here tomorrow :)

Tip-It Tuesday: Any Color Mist Spray

Hey everyone!

Happy Tuesday!! For today's Tip-It Tuesday I have a variation on my Any Color Glimmer Mist Tut. If you recall, I mixed pearl glimmer mist with my alcohol inks to create a custom color glimmer mist. Well then I thought, what if you don't want the glimmer but you still want a custom colored mist? And so today's tip was born :) Instead of mixing my alcohol inks with glimmer mist, I found this Tim Holtz Pearl Mixative. I found it right along with the other alcohol inks, but it seems to be a slightly thicker mixture, which is perfect. I mixed the mixative with a few drops of the desired color alcohol ink and ta-da! Check out what I created:

As you might have guessed, my project is similar to my glimmer mist tut project, as a I had a very similar need when making this card. This past weekend my boyfriend's parents celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary! I created this card for them :)

I used my Silhouette to cut out the 32. I sprayed the background with my homemade mist, and then splattered a little bit of straight alcohol in on it for good measure. I also did a tiny splatter on my top layer with the cut out numbers, and then I popped up the adorable heart stamp from Unity Stamp Company and finished it with some sequins. You can't see it, but I also stamped "Happy Anniversary" on the inside using my Unity Stamp Company stamps.

Alright sweet friends, I know it was a simple tip today but I hope you enjoyed it!
I'll see you back here tomorrow for Work-It Wednesday!!

Work-It Wednesday: SSS Use What You Have #11

Hey everyone!

Happy Wednesday!! For today's Work-It Wednesday I am playing along with the Sweet Stamp Shop Use What You Have challenge #11

I have to tell you guys, I have been wanting to play along with this challenge since it started, but I've been hesitant. Why have I been hesitant you ask? The premise of the challenge is to use up your stash of crafty supplies that has just been sitting around. Awesome premise right? So why the hesitation? Well when I moved back to San Diego from San Francisco after my husband left me, I went from having a full ROOM for all of my crafty goodness, to renting a room in a small apartment with roommates. Now all of my crafty stuff must fit in these two bins I have under my bed. So, as you might imagine, I just don't have that much STUFF to use. The majority of my crafty goodies are all boxed up and stored for the time being. Hence, I've felt like I can't participate in this challenge. BUT this week, I decided WHAT the heck, I have SOME stuff, so I'll use it!

SO the "stash" I decided to use is my stash of embossing powders. I bought a whole set as well as big tubes of black and white, and so far I've only used the black ONCE. I figured it was time to put these babies to use. Here's my stash:

And here's what I came up with:

These gorgeous falling hearts are from the Sweet Stamp Shop Drops Background stamp set, and the sentiment is from the SSS Weird Love stamp set. Again I wrapped the card with a little bit of Totally White Trendy Twine, I just can't get enough of this stuff!!

Here is a close up of the sentiment. I LOVE this quote, my boyfriend and I find it very fitting for us, we're both a little weird, but it's out compatible weirdness that makes us work ;)

So hopefully you can tell that I used the red embossing powder for the hearts. I tried to emboss the sentiment as well but the little letters weren't coming out. But at least I cracked open a new color!

Alright sweet friends, that's all for today. I'll see you back here tomorrow for Throwback Thursday!
